"In May of 2015 a group of 10 friends decided we wanted to do more to serve those who are less-fortunate in our community.
There are so many right here in Salt Lake City who struggle and find themselves homeless and without hope. We wanted to do something for them to let them know that we care and that we love them! Something to help them feel better about themselves; to feel beautiful on the outside, but also to feel beautiful on the inside.
Our goal for our first CARE-cuts event on July 19, 2015 was to provide 100 hair cuts and grooming for the men & women at The Road Home Homeless Shelter as well as nail painting, makeup and styling. We ended up doing 272 haircuts and serving over 300 that day. We then put on a second event in which we did well over 320 haircuts and serving nearly 400 people in just 4 hours. We even had a petting zoo with rescue animals this time that both the kids and adults enjoyed.
As we spent the afternoon serving them, not only did we see the looks of joy and hope in their eyes, but our hearts were softened and we felt love and compassion for our dear brothers and sisters who were struggling. Tears of joy were shed because they found hope again in their hearts where they didn't find it before. That alone tells us it was a success!
We're so very grateful to the hundreds of volunteers who donated their time, talents and monetary donations so we could put on this event. We couldn't have done it without you!
We would love the help of anyone willing to join us in putting on future events. We've even had many requests from service minded people in other states to help them put on events like this in their cities. Be patient with us as we put the system in place as we're excited to spread our mission to Love, Uplift & Improve the lives of our brothers and sisters who are less fortunate. "

Last year, I began volunteering my time as a photographer for this amazing organization! I love having the opportunity to use my photography and artwork to serve others. I love witnessing the miracles that occur because of this group. This fall, I got to be one of the photographers for their annual fundraising gala! There were so many amazing performances, speakers, sponsors, etc. I even got to spend some time taking some portraits at the ring light and had a BLAST getting to connect with people in that way! Can't wait for more fun and magic with this amazing group of beautiful souls <3
